A Tiny Leaf

Category: Life

My life is dry
No water to cry
Fallen on the hard ground

Everything's frail
Crisp and stale
Waiting to be found

Then at the last moment
Everything goes silent
Not a single movement
Not a ripple is sent

The wind comes in
Like a rushing wave
Catches me in
My best of days
I can't control where I fall
I can do nothing at all
I get swooped up
And float on the air
I want to give up
But I'm too scared
The ride isn't brief
'Cause my life's a tiny leaf

I land in the dirt
Wounded and hurt
Can't even use my feet

I flap in the cold
With stained colors of gold
Only to have it all repeat

Then at the last moment
Everything goes silent
Not a single movement
Not a ripple is sent

The wind comes in
Like a rushing wave
Catches me in
My best of days
I can't control where I fall
I can do nothing at all
I get swooped up
And float on the air
I want to give up
But I'm too scared
The ride isn't brief
'Cause my life's a tiny leaf

Going place after place
The dirt in your face
Always taking a fall
Always up on the wall
And you feel the ache
Like getting hit by a rake

The wind comes in
Like a rushing wave
Catches me in
My best of days
I can't control where I fall
I can do nothing at all
I get swooped up
and float in the air
I want to give up
But I'm too scared
The ride isn't brief
'Cause my life's a tiny leaf

A tiny leaf

A crumbling leaf

A tiny....
